church in london Christian Life City Hackney

As a saint within CLC London Church Hackney over 14 years, I can never forget a crucial message that was preached by Bishop Wayne Malcolm(then Pastor) in early to mid 1999. As being the shepherd of the house, he said: "I'm not placing the boundaries for you no longer. You should create your own, you aren't infants." Wow! It was a deep word!

Allow me to present you with a little history: In those days we were the most strict set of Christians at that time. What i'm saying is, any time you didn't follow the stated guidelines and regulations of exactly how to be a Christian - e.g. no earrings, wearing slacks, or make-up for the females - you used to be in danger of being judged, at worse kicked out of he church by the saints. At any time you didn't pray for several hrs every day you were backsliding. Spirituality was all about the way you dressed instead of the relationship you experienced with Christ.

In this message, Gods Spokes Man taught that it's time for you to have a connection with Jesus and not with a list of customs and procedures. This word wasn't largely welcomed by various other spiritual Apostolic Pentecostals, but in true style that's where Bishop lives - in the cutting edge of controversy.

I felt such freedom following that message mainly because up to that time I assumed that Jesus appeared to be an ogre having a club ready to beat me and also send me to hell for watching television! From then on, most of us began to see the genuine Christians connected with CLC seeing that saints could now relate with the lost (before most of us kept ourselves so separate from the entire world that we lost touch with the people who required help).

Up to this very day, the majority of the saints which i talk to in CLC are real friendly folks that aren't camouflaging behind suits and lengthy dresses. Many thanks The set man for speaking that life-transforming word all those yrs ago!
